Fritillaria meleagris 'Alba' – elegant white fritillary for natural gardens

Fritillaria meleagris 'Alba' is a refined white selection of the well-known checkered lily. This special woodland plant stands out with its pure white, bell-shaped flowers, which give the spring garden a fresh and elegant appearance. Unlike the common Fritillaria meleagris, the characteristic green flower pattern is barely visible on 'Alba', creating a soft and serene look.

This graceful spring bloomer flowers in April and May and comes into its own beautifully in somewhat darker spots in the garden. Thanks to its bright white flowers, Fritillaria meleagris 'Alba' provides a subtle light accent under trees, along borders, or in natural lawn plantings. The plant combines excellently with other woodland plants and spring bloomers such as bluebells, daffodils, and anemones.

Fritillaria meleagris 'Alba' is particularly suitable for naturalizing. Once the bulbs are in place, they return annually and, over time, form increasingly beautiful clumps. This elegant fritillary also performs excellently in pots and planters. Additionally, the plant is attractive to bees and butterflies, thereby contributing to a vibrant and biodiverse garden.

Plant the bulbs in the autumn in a sunny or partially shaded location in moist but well-drained soil. Use a planting distance of 10 to 15 cm and plant the bulbs about 10 cm deep. For a natural and abundant flowering effect, plant approximately 100 bulbs per square meter.
