Description

Fritillaria imperialis 'Aurora' – impressive crown imperial with an exotic appearance

Fritillaria imperialis 'Aurora' is a spectacular crown imperial with striking orange to orange-red bell-shaped flowers. The elegant flowers hang gracefully beneath a crown of upright green leaves, giving this special spring flower an exotic and stately appearance. Thanks to its strong, long flower stalks, 'Aurora' is a real eye-catcher in the border.

This impressive Fritillaria blooms in April and May, providing height, color, and structure in the garden early in the season. The warm orange tones combine beautifully with other spring bloomers such as tulips and daffodils. Thanks to its striking shape and powerful appearance, Fritillaria imperialis 'Aurora' looks excellent both as a solitary plant and in groups.

In addition to its ornamental value, this crown imperial has another practical advantage: the plant is deer- and rodent-resistant. Furthermore, the bulb emits a distinctive scent that helps keep unwanted animals at bay. The flowers are also suitable as cut flowers, allowing you to enjoy this special sight indoors as well.

Plant the bulbs in the autumn in a sunny or partially shaded location in well-draining soil. Use a planting distance of 20 to 25 cm and plant the bulbs approximately 10 to 15 cm deep. For a rich flowering effect, plant approximately 20 bulbs per square meter.

Fritillaria imperialis 'Aurora' is less suitable for naturalizing or pot planting, but excels in borders and spacious planting beds where its exotic character is fully expressed.
