Vitalis is a dark green, medium-early pole bean, about 2 cm wide and 20 cm long.
Ideal for fresh consumption as a broad bean and in salads, but also suitable for freezing. A mid-early variety. Equally suitable for both greenhouse and outdoor cultivation. Vitalis grows slower and therefore more evenly than other varieties, guaranteeing plenty of top-quality pods. Also suitable for grain harvesting; the seeds are white.
Resistant to bean mosaic virus and very robust in growth.
Sowing: Sow directly outdoors from mid-May to late June, in rows along the stake. Space rows 100 cm apart, and 40–60 cm within the row. Plant approximately 6–8 seeds per stake. Harvest period: From late July to October.
Fertilization is usually not necessary. Avoid waterlogging and wet tillage. Later topdressing is recommended.
