Lobelia erinus compacta 'Pumila Splendens' is a beautiful, low-growing summer bloomer known for its abundance of intense blue-violet flowers. Its compact growth and long flowering period make this classic garden lobelia particularly suitable for borders, flowerbeds, rock gardens, flower boxes, and pots. An excellent choice for anyone who wants plenty of color in the garden or on the balcony during the summer.
'Pumila Splendens' forms low, bushy plants that typically grow to about 10 to 15 cm tall. Countless small flowers in a striking blue-violet color appear above the fine green foliage. Once the plants are in full bloom, a dense carpet of flowers is created.
Flowering usually begins in June and, under favorable conditions, can continue until September or October. Due to its low growth, this lobelia is ideal for the front of borders. The intense flower color also comes into its own perfectly in pots and balcony planters. Combine 'Pumila Splendens', for example, with white, yellow, or pink summer flowers for a colorful contrast.
Sow Lobelia erinus 'Pumila Splendens' indoors or under glass from February to April. Lobelia seeds are very fine and are sown superficially on moist seed compost. Keep the seedbed moist and provide the young plants with sufficient light. They can be planted out outdoors after the last frost.
Preferably plant 'Pumila Splendens' in a sunny or semi-shaded location. Nutritious, well-draining, and evenly moist soil promotes abundant flowering. Water plants in pots and planters regularly during warm periods.
