Lagenaria siceraria Xiaohulu is an exceptionally elegant and charming ornamental gourd with a strikingly refined shape. This compact variety immediately stands out with its perfectly proportioned, double-curved bottle shape, crowned with a characteristic pointed cup. At only 10–12 cm tall, Xiaohulu is one of the most refined and detailed lagenaria varieties, ideal for decorative purposes, art projects, and crafts.
The fruits have a light green, smooth skin and are exceptionally uniform. Their compact size and elegant appearance make them ideal for drying, after which they retain their shape and quality for years.

Despite the compact size of the fruits, the plant itself grows vigorously and vigorously, just like other Lagenaria species. The tendrils develop quickly and robustly, making them ideal for vertical cultivation.

Xiaohulu grows best in warm, well-drained soil in a sunny location. The plant prefers a bright, warm environment and benefits from a richly fertilized soil.
Pre-sowing: from the end of April in pots or trays.
Plant out: as soon as no more night frost is expected.
Direct sowing: possible from early May when the soil has warmed up sufficiently.
Although the fruits are small, the plant itself needs space to grow well.
Recommended: 2–3 m² per plant.
Vertical cultivation (along a fence, pergola, trellis):
Produces the most beautiful, symmetrical fruits and keeps the plant healthy and airy.
Ground cultivation:
Possible, but more often gives variation in form through contact with the soil.
Water regularly, especially during dry periods.
Provide sufficient nutrition during growth for optimal fruit set.
