Description

Waltham – Old, open-pollinated variety with fairly uniform fruits.

Waltham is a well-known variety grown worldwide.

The fruits weigh approximately 1.5–2 kg and have a long shelf life. For Central European conditions, we recommend pre-cultivation.

Maturation time: 110 days.

Moderately ranking.

Cucurbita moschata requires a lot of warmth and is therefore best cultivated in advance. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in colder regions.

Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.

The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the tendril behaviour.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
