Description

Household size butternut squash that ripens well.

Uniform, smaller, light-skinned butternut squash, weighing around 1.5 kg, with good orange flesh and a reliable yield.

Moderately vining. Must be sown and planted out. Butternut squash require a warm location.

Ripe when the color begins to turn light brown or, as is common with butternut squash, when a white bloom appears on the skin. Butternut squash can be harvested at the beginning of ripening and can be ripened further in a room at approximately 20°C for 3 to 5 weeks. They will then easily mature to full ripeness, and the quality of the flesh will also improve.

Maturation period: 100–110 days.

Toledo F1 has a moderate ranking.

Cucurbita moschata requires a lot of warmth and is therefore best grown early. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also do well in colder regions.

Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.

For Toledo F1 we recommend 1–2 m² per plant.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
