Household size butternut squash that ripens well.
Uniform, smaller, light-skinned butternut squash, weighing around 1.5 kg, with good orange flesh and a reliable yield.
Moderately vining. Must be sown and planted out. Butternut squash require a warm location.
Ripe when the color begins to turn light brown or, as is common with butternut squash, when a white bloom appears on the skin. Butternut squash can be harvested at the beginning of ripening and can be ripened further in a room at approximately 20°C for 3 to 5 weeks. They will then easily mature to full ripeness, and the quality of the flesh will also improve.
Maturation period: 100–110 days.
Toledo F1 has a moderate ranking.
Cucurbita moschata requires a lot of warmth and is therefore best grown early. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also do well in colder regions.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.
For Toledo F1 we recommend 1–2 m² per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
