Requires warmth, should definitely be pre-cultivated in Central Europe, and needs a sunny location during a good summer. Ripeness begins when the color changes to orange-ochre, or—as is common with butternut squash—when the white waxy layer appears on the skin.
Butternut squash can be harvested at the beginning of ripening and left in a cool, dry place at approximately 20°C (68°F) to ripen fully within 3 to 5 weeks. The color will change without any problems as they mature, and the flesh quality will also improve.
Maturation period: 110–120 days.
Pancho F1 ranks average.
Cucurbita moschata requires a lot of warmth and therefore requires proper cultivation. Varieties with a ripening time of up to 110 days also thrive in colder regions.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.
For Pancho F1 we recommend 1–2 m² per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
