Useful nutmeg pumpkin with good yield.
Smaller nutmeg pumpkin in typical shape, 2.5 to 3.5 kg, fairly uniform in size, good flesh, bears well.
It needs warmth, must be pre-sown in Central Europe, and requires a sunny location during a good summer. Ripens as soon as the color begins to change to ochre brown, or—as is common with nutmeg pumpkins—when the white patina appears on the skin.
Nutmeg pumpkins can be harvested at the beginning of their ripening period and left to ripen in a cool, dry place for 3 to 5 weeks at approximately 20°C. They will then continue to color until fully ripe without any problems. This also improves the quality of the flesh.
Maturation period: 100–110 days.
Rank behavior: Hambra F1 ranks moderately.
Cucurbita moschata needs a lot of warmth and is therefore best sown early. Varieties with a maturation time of up to 110 days also do well in colder regions.
Optimal germination: 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
For Hambra F1 we recommend 1–2 m² per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
