A modern butternut hybrid with very evenly shaped fruits of around 1.3 kg, a good household size.
The fruit set is very good; Granite can also be grown in Central Europe with excellent yields when sown and planted out. Butternuts require a warm, sheltered location.
Maturation period: 90–95 days.
Rank behavior: Granite F1 ranks moderately.
Cucurbita moschata needs a lot of warmth and is therefore best sown early. Varieties with a maturation time of up to 110 days also do well in colder regions.
Optimal germination: 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
For Granite F1 we recommend 1–2 m² per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
