Voyage tomato – a true rarity with a unique fruit shape.
The fruits of this tomato (originally from Germany, where it's called "Reisetomate") have multiple fruiting chambers. These chambers can be separated without much effort or mess.
This variety is a tasty rarity among tomatoes, a historical rarity. It's essentially a beefsteak tomato, with its dark red fruits divided into pieces.
Voyage gives a good yield and also grows well outdoors.
The taste is good, tomatoey-spicy with a subtle sourness.
Sow at 20–25°C from February to the end of March, sow from February to April, and plant outdoors after the last frost. Harvest from late July to October.
Tomatoes prefer sunny, sheltered locations. The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and nutritious.
Tomato plants require a lot of water. Never water them with cold tap water; the water should be at least room temperature. Always keep the leaves dry to reduce the risk of tomato rot.
