Rotkäppchen, like the Harzfeuer variety, a variety from the GDR period, is a slow-growing, compact bush tomato, very suitable for balconies and pots.

The fruits weigh about 40–50 grams and are a typical tomato red. This variety doesn't necessarily need pruning. However, outdoors, the plant should be sheltered from the rain.

Sow at 20–25°C from February to the end of March, then cultivate from February to April, transplanting into the ground after the last frost. Harvesting takes place from late July to September.

Tomatoes prefer sunny, sheltered locations. The soil should be loose, humus-rich, and nutrient-rich.

Tomato plants require a lot of water. Never water them with cold tap water; the water should be at least room temperature. Always ensure the leaves remain dry to reduce the risk of tomato rot.
