The upright grass species has fine, needle-like green leaves, with silky green, arching flowers in July that mature to golden blond.
The whole thing is reminiscent of a horsetail. The leaves are grayish-green with a purple tinge.
The flowers bloom from summer to autumn.
This plant prefers full sun to part shade.
