Solanum melongena 'Nawal F1', better known as eggplant Nawal F1, is a modern hybrid variety known for its high yield, uniform fruit, and vigorous growth. This eggplant is ideal for both professional growers and home gardeners seeking a reliable variety with excellent flavor and an attractive, deep purple color. Thanks to its strong plant structure and consistent fruit quality, Nawal F1 is a popular choice for cultivation in open ground, greenhouse, or polytunnel.
Nawal F1 forms a vigorous, compact plant with good branching. This creates a stable plant that can bear multiple fruits simultaneously without the branches breaking easily. The plant continuously produces new flowers throughout the season, resulting in a long and productive harvest.
The fruits are elongated to cylindrical in shape and have a beautiful, glossy, dark purple skin. Their average length is usually between 18 and 22 centimeters, making them ideal for various culinary uses. The flesh is firm, light-colored, and has a mild, smooth flavor without bitterness.
Aubergine Nawal F1 is known for its fine texture and full flavor. The flesh easily absorbs flavors, making this eggplant perfect for a variety of dishes. Think grilled eggplant, casseroles, stir-fries, or classic Mediterranean recipes like ratatouille, moussaka, or grilled vegetable dishes.
The firm texture of the slices keeps them nicely intact during cooking. This also makes them ideal for grilling, baking, or stuffing. The thin skin and tender flesh ensure the eggplant cooks quickly and retains a pleasant texture.
The Solanum melongena Nawal F1 is ideal for growing in a greenhouse, tunnel, or sheltered spot in the ground. The plant thrives in warmth and grows best at temperatures between 20 and 30°C. An even higher yield can often be achieved in a greenhouse because the conditions are more closely controlled.
Nutritious, well-drained soil is essential for optimal growth. Regular watering and adequate nutrition promote vigorous growth and good fruit set. When growing in greenhouses or tunnels, it can be helpful to stake the plants to keep them upright and receive sufficient light.
Nawal F1 seeds are typically sown indoors from February to April. They germinate best at a temperature of around 22 to 25°C. Once the young plants are strong enough and there is no longer any risk of night frost, they can be planted out.
Plant the eggplants about 50 to 70 centimeters apart, so they have plenty of room to develop. With proper care, the first harvest can often take place from July until early autumn.
