This unique egg-shaped fruit originates from West Africa.

This form of Solanum/eggplant is a popular vegetable, especially in the Ivory Coast, but here the ornamental value of the fruits in autumn is particularly striking.

The round fruits, reminiscent of pumpkins, turn from green to red.

Plant out from mid-May in warm locations; cultivation in a greenhouse is possible.
