Interesting Asian radish specialty.
An interesting specialty is Misato Red, originally from China and very popular in Japan.
Misato Red can be harvested as both giant radish and regular radish. If you allow the tubers to grow to a diameter of 10–12 cm in the fall, the white flesh will still be tender and mildly flavored. It can also be sown as giant radish starting in spring. As a radish, Misato grows best with an autumn harvest.
Sowing takes place outdoors from June to early September, with a distance of 20 cm between rows and 15 cm within them. Harvesting takes place from approximately September to November, depending on the sowing date.
Radishes should always be well watered, not harvested when overripe, and never allowed to dry out, as this will lead to pungency and woodiness.
