A large-fruited yellow tomatillo.
Amarylla is a fairly large tomatillo, with fruits up to 5 cm in size and weighing 30–40 g.
Tomatillos are unfussy, easy-to-grow plants that thrive in almost any soil.
Harvest them when they're not fully ripe; they add a fresh and savory flavor to chutneys and salsas. Because of the size of the fruit, Amarylla is also a good starter. Definitely worth trying.
Harvesting takes place outdoors from early August, as soon as the actual fruits emerge from the papery covering.
Sowing: from late February to late March at 20–25 °C with a warm pre-sowing indoors.
Tomatillo plants can grow quite large. Pruning once will produce more stable plants.
Planting distance: 75 x 75 cm. Greenhouse cultivation is possible.
