Better known as the perennial sweet pea or everlasting sweet pea, it is a climbing, herbaceous perennial. It is prized for its vibrant flowers and its ability to cover pergolas, fences, and walls with lush greenery and color.

It forms clusters of flowers that resemble the classic pea flower. The flowers are not fragrant (unlike annual sweet peas), but they are large and showy.

If left unsupported, the plant can spread across the ground, forming a dense growth.

Prefers full sun, but tolerates partial shade. It grows best in well-drained, moderately fertile soil, but also adapts to poorer conditions. It requires regular watering during establishment, but is drought-tolerant once mature.
