Gladiolus Blue Isle – a striking violet-blue appearance

Gladiolus Blue Isle is a special large-flowered gladiolus distinguished by its striking violet-blue to deep blue-purple flowers. The flowers have a subtle lighter, almost white accent in the center, which makes the intense flower color stand out even more. This relatively rare shade makes Blue Isle a real eye-catcher in the summer garden and an excellent choice as a cut flower.

The long, sturdy flower stalks rise elegantly above the characteristic sword-shaped green foliage. Gladiolus Blue Isle typically reaches a height of about 100 to 120 cm and blooms during the summer, usually from July to September. This makes this gladiolus very suitable for the center or background of borders. Planted in groups, it creates an impressive color accent.

Plant the bulbs in the spring in a sunny spot in fertile, well-draining soil. A planting depth of approximately 8 to 10 cm is generally suitable. For a long-lasting display of flowers, the bulbs can be planted at intervals starting in the spring. In this way, the flower stalks follow one another throughout the summer.

Thanks to its unique color, Gladiolus Blue Isle combines beautifully with white and soft pink summer flowers. For a stronger contrast, yellow and orange shades are highly suitable. Blue Isle also comes into its own perfectly in bouquets: the long stems and large flowers provide height, structure, and a stylish appearance.
