Warty Orange is very popular as a decorative fruit; the fruits are about 10–12 cm in size. At the beginning of ripening, the fruits are yellowish with greenish warts, turning a pure orange when fully ripe.
Real ornamental pumpkin, not suitable for consumption.
Maturation time: 90 days.
Warty Orange ranks moderately.
C. pepo grows well in warm, well-drained soils. Sow early and plant out from late April or sow directly from early May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the tendril behaviour.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
