Cucurbita pepo Warty Gnome F1 PMT is a new bicolor ornamental pumpkin variety that immediately stands out with its bright yellow and dark orange stripes and subtle, light warts on the flattened fruits. With a diameter of 15–20 cm and a weight of approximately 2 kg, this robust, hard-shelled pumpkin is ideal for autumn decoration and creative uses, but is less suitable for consumption.
Warty Gnome F1 combines excellent ornamental value with ease of cultivation:
Two-tone, yellow-dark orange striped fruits, attractive for decoration
Flattened round fruits of 15–20 cm, approx. 2 kg each
Light warty peel, which adds unique texture
Robust and hard-shelled, with a long durability
Bushy, compact growth, suitable for small gardens
Yield of approx. 5–6 fruits per plant, with uniform fruits
Although the flesh is edible, it is not of comparable quality to other edible pumpkins and is primarily grown for ornamental purposes.
Warty Gnome F1 PMT is ideal for autumn and Halloween decorations:
Table decorations and flower arrangements, thanks to the striking colours and warty texture
Market and sales decorations, due to the uniform, compact fruits
Arts and crafts projects, such as painted or personalized pumpkins
Autumn arrangements, in which the two-tone stripes and warts provide a striking accent
The combination of colour, shape and warty structure makes Warty Gnome F1 PMT a beautiful and professional ornamental pumpkin.
The bushy and compact growth of Warty Gnome F1 makes this variety manageable and suitable for:
hobby gardens with limited space
pot or raised bed cultivation
novice and experienced growers who want high ornamental value
The compact plant structure promotes good air circulation, optimal leaf development and stable fruit set, guaranteeing a consistent harvest of ornamental pumpkins.
With a ripening time of approximately 95 days, Warty Gnome F1 is a mid-season variety of Cucurbita pepo. The fruits develop evenly and retain their color, shape, and firmness, making them perfect for decorative use throughout the autumn and winter.
Warty Gnome F1 PMT grows best in warm, well-drained soil. For successful cultivation, the seeds can be planted in two ways:
Sow from the end of April, plant out after the last frost
Sow directly from early May, as soon as the soil temperature is sufficient
For optimal germination, a temperature of 24–30°C is ideal. Seeds should preferably be placed pointed-side down or flat and kept slightly moist, but not wet. After germination, young plants should be placed in a brighter, cooler location to encourage healthy growth.
A space of approximately 1 m² per plant is recommended for Warty Gnome F1 PMT. This provides sufficient space for bushy growth, optimal fruit development, and good air circulation, while the compact plant structure allows for efficient use of the available space.
