Stars and Stripes is one of the most modern ornamental pumpkin varieties.
The fruits, approximately 8–10 cm in size, are impressive in both their shape and color. The attractive, star-shaped fruits are quite robust and keep well. A true novelty in the ornamental pumpkin range.
Real ornamental pumpkin, not suitable for consumption.
Maturation time: 90 days.
The plants climb moderately.
C. pepo grows well in warm, well-drained soils, pre-cultivated and planted out by sowing from late April or direct sowing from early May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
We recommend a space requirement of approximately 2 m² per plant for Stars and Stripes.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, powdery mildew, viruses.
