Orange-yellow, trowel-shaped, somewhat more robust and decorative than Pear bicolor.
The plants are very productive. The fruits, approximately 8–10 cm long, are dark yellow with green. Their even better shelf life than the fruits of Pear bicolor and their striking, elongated shape make them particularly popular as attractive autumn decorations.
Real ornamental pumpkin, not suitable for consumption.
Maturation time: 85 days.
Moderate ranking behavior.
C. pepo grows well in warm, well-drained soils, pre-cultivated and planted out by sowing from late April or direct sowing from early May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the tendril behaviour.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
