Jack Straw bears round fruits of about 6–7 kg, bright orange in colour and lightly ribbed, round to slightly rounded.
For a purebred variety, the fruit size is very uniform and the yield is good. The overall, exceptionally harmoniously shaped fruits are complemented by the attractive dark green stem.
Jack Straw is powdery mildew resistant (PMT) and grows normally.

C. pepo grows well in warm, well-drained soils, pre-cultivated and planted out by sowing from late April or direct sowing from early May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
For Jack Straw we recommend 2 square meters per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
