Growth habit and cultivation characteristics

Galaxy of Stars F1 is a trailing variety that thrives in space. The plants form longer tendrils and spread elegantly across the ground. With a space requirement of approximately 2 m² per plant, it's important to maintain sufficient spacing to ensure healthy, airy growth.

The plants are robust and adapt well to various growing conditions, as long as the soil is warm and well-drained.

Sowing advice and germination conditions

As usual with Cucurbita pepo, Galaxy of Stars F1 performs best when sown in warm conditions.

Sowing and germinating:

  • Pre-cultivation: from the end of April

  • Direct sowing: from early May, as soon as the soil is warm enough

  • Optimal germination temperature: 24–30 °C

  • Sowing method:

    • Insert the seed with the pointed end down

    • Or lay the seed flat

  • Important: Do not keep seeds too moist; soil that is too wet will cause rot.

  • After germination: move the plants to a lighter, cooler place to prevent stretching.

With the right germination conditions, the young plants quickly grow into strong vines that begin fruiting early in the season.

Maintenance and care

Galaxy of Stars F1 asks for:

  • Warm, sunny location

  • Nutritious, well-drained soil

  • Regular watering, but no wet feet

  • Sufficient space for rank growth

Because of their climbing habit, it's advisable to keep weeds low so the vines can develop freely. Ornamental pumpkins generally ripen well, even in slightly cooler summers.

Decorative use

The small, star-shaped fruits are perfect for:

  • Fall decorations

  • Table arrangement

  • Seasonal packages

  • Creative craft projects

  • Selling at farmers markets

  • Gift baskets

Thanks to their firm skin, the fruits have a long shelf life and are ideal for long-term decorative applications.
