Decorative, patisson-like fruits in golden orange.
An unusual variety is Coronation F1. Actually a patisson, it can be eaten from young to ripe, as this variety only reveals its true potential as an ornamental pumpkin when fully ripe.
The deep orange fruits are very unusually shaped, expanding upward into a trapezoid. The plants produce abundant, healthy, long-lasting fruits on short vines.
At about 15cm, the first fruits are about twice as large as those that later form on the tendrils.
Coronation can be eaten from young to ripe, but also has a high ornamental value.
Maturation time: 90 days.
Coronation F1 grows compactly, climbing.
C. pepo grows well in warm, well-drained soils, pre-grown and planted by sowing from late April or direct sowing from early May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24-30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or flatten it. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the tendril behaviour.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
