The Ute Indian is a tribe of Native Americans, and this variety has been cultivated by them for a long time. The fruits are similar in size and shape to the Turkish Turban, with a diameter of about 20–25 cm. The gray fruits are highly decorative, and the flesh—like that of other Turkish Turbans—is a culinary discovery.

Cucurbita maxima is generally robust and provides excellent nutrition. This variety thrives in warm, well-drained soil.
Pre-sowing and planting: sow from the end of April or sow directly from the beginning of May.
Optimal germination: at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cooler location.
Recommended planting distance: 1–2 m² per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
