Flat, intensely red Hokkaido.
A beautiful and uniform, flat-round Hokkaido variety with a bright red skin.
Rotorua F1 produces well on trailing plants. Fruit weights range from 1–1.5 kg, fairly consistent but dependent on growing conditions.
In dry conditions, the fruit size may be smaller. Abundant, good flesh.
Maturation time: 90 days.
Rank behaviour: luxuriant.
This variety grows well in warm, well-drained soils.
Pre-sow and plant by sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.
For Rotorua F1 we recommend 1.5–2 square metres per plant.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
