Description

Red Kuri is a selection of the Uchiki Kuri with slightly larger fruits. On average, the fruits are about 100 grams heavier, weighing 1.1 to 1.5 kg, and are an improvement where Uchiki Kuri is too small.

Otherwise comparable in terms of yield, color, shape, and flesh quality. Red Kuri doesn't need to be peeled before cooking; the skin disintegrates during cooking. Sourced from certified organic cultivation.

Maturation time: 90 days.

Cucurbita maxima are generally robust and provide excellent food. The variety thrives in warm, well-drained soil.

Pre-sow and plant by sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.

Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, hold the pointed end of the seed downward or lay it flat. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.

For Red Kuri we recommend 1–2 square meters per plant.

Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, mildew, viruses.
