Marina di Chioggia is a turban variety.
Gray-green to dark green and warty, similar to Buen Gusto de Horno.
It ripens quite late, is very vigorous and bears fruits of 3–7 kg which, once opened with some effort, are very suitable for use in the kitchen.
Maturation time: 120 days.
Rank behaviour: luxuriant.
This variety grows well in warm, well-drained soils.
Pre-cultivation and planting out by sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or flatten it. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the tendril behaviour.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, powdery mildew, viruses.
