Classic from South Africa.
The fruits of Boer van Niekerk's Flat White are flattened and round, white, slightly ribbed, and weigh about 5–8 kg. Besides their decorative appearance, the fruits are also excellent for culinary use.
Maturation time: 110 days.
Flat White Boer ranks highly.
This variety grows well in warm, well-drained soils.
Pre-cultivation and planting out by sowing from the end of April or direct sowing from the beginning of May.
Optimal germination occurs at 24–30°C. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed downward or flatten it. Do not keep the seed too moist. After germination, place it in a bright, cool location.
The planting distance for pumpkins depends on the tendril behaviour.
Possible pests: snails, birds, mice, aphids, powdery mildew, viruses.
