Reliable, smaller watermelon
Sugar Baby is a globally proven and popular variety, grown for decades.
The fruits weigh about 3–4 kg, are dark green, with purple-red flesh that is juicy and tasty.
The success of the cultivation and the sugar content of the fruit depend on warmth and sun. Melons need a warm location.
The plants grow at an average rate and require 1–2 m² per plant. Mulch is recommended.
In a warm summer, the flesh contains more sugar than in a cool summer.
Sowing instructions: sow indoors from early April at 24–28 °C, directly 1–2 seeds per pot (do not keep the pots too moist), or outdoors from mid-May in a warm place.
Possible pests: aphids, mice, mildew, downy mildew and viral diseases.
