Description

Early Moonbeam – the earliest yellow-fleshed watermelon, exceptionally sweet.

This variety has been specially bred for cooler growing conditions and stands out because of its handy size of approximately 3 kg and its excellent taste with a high sugar content.

Early Moonbeam is recommended for anyone wanting to try their hand at the otherwise demanding melon growing industry.

The success of the cultivation and the sugar content of the fruit depend on warmth and sun. Melons need a warm location.

The plants grow moderately and require approximately 1–2 m² per plant. Mulch is recommended.

In a warm summer the pulp contains more sugar than in a cool summer.

Sowing instructions: Sow indoors from early April at 24–28 °C, directly with 1–2 seeds per pot (do not keep the pots too moist), or outdoors from mid-May in a warm place.

Possible pests: aphids, mice, mildew, downy mildew and viral diseases.
