Description

Popular red snack peppers for filling.

Piquillo is a well-known Spanish specialty. A snack pepper, also suitable for stuffing or baking, it's most commonly found with a cream cheese filling and preserved in oil.

Productive, about 8–10 cm long, can be slightly spicy but not sharp.

Suitable for greenhouses, outdoors and in sufficiently large pots.

Sow from February to March at 22–24°C, transplant from mid-May at a spacing of 40 x 60 cm. Harvest from July to early October.

Keep the soil evenly moist, but not too wet. Fertilize regularly and use humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil. Peppers need warmth. Best location: full sun in a south-facing position or in a polytunnel.

Peppers are sensitive to frost.

Height outside approximately 70 cm, higher in the greenhouse.
