The Callistephus chinensis (Aster) QIS® Matsumoto mixture is a popular choice among professional growers and home gardeners seeking early-flowering asters of floristry quality. This beautiful variety belongs to the popular Matsumoto series, known for its strong stems, abundant blooms, and excellent vase life. The semi-double flowers with their characteristic yellow centers bring vibrant color and a cheerful appearance to any garden, flowerbed, or vase.
The flowers of the Matsumoto mixture are semi-double and range in color from bright white to deep purple, pink, red, and blue. This colorful mix creates a lush, harmonious display that continues to bloom from June into autumn. The flower diameter is around 5–6 cm, and the plants reach a height of approximately 60 to 70 cm. This makes them excellent cut flowers for bouquets, wildflower arrangements, and flower arrangements.
One of the most valued features of the Callistephus Matsumoto series is the strong, upright stem. This prevents the flowers from falling over, even in windy or rainy weather. Moreover, the sturdy growth habit makes the plants easy to incorporate into bouquets and floral arrangements. Thanks to their compact, well-branched plant structure, the asters are also suitable for cultivation in open ground or greenhouses.
While many asters are susceptible to Fusarium wilt, the Matsumoto series stands out for its good tolerance to Fusarium wilt. This makes this variety more reliable and sustainable in cultivation. However, it remains important to rotate the planting location annually or disinfect the soil to prevent infection. Asters do not like wet feet: avoid overwatering and poorly drained soil to promote healthy growth.
The QIS® (Quality in Seed) label guarantees outstanding genetic quality and uniform growth. Only carefully selected varieties that meet the high standards of floriculture and professional cultivation are allowed to carry this quality mark. With QIS® Asters, you can be sure you're choosing reliable germination, strong plants, and long-lasting blooms – ideal for commercial cultivation and demanding enthusiasts alike.
