Description

Callistephus chinensis (Aster) QIS® Matsumoto Scarlet – Deep red cut flower of top quality

The Callistephus chinensis (Aster) QIS® Matsumoto Scarlet is a striking, early-flowering aster from the popular Matsumoto series. With its deep red, semi-double flowers and bright yellow center, this variety brings intensity and elegance to both gardens and bouquets.

Like all Matsumoto varieties, Scarlet boasts strong, upright stems, professional florist quality, and Fusarium tolerance, making it a reliable choice for both professional cut flower growers and home gardeners.

Deep red flowers with a striking yellow heart

The QIS® Matsumoto Scarlet produces lush, semi-double flowers 5–6 cm across, creating a full, graceful appearance. The flower's golden center contrasts beautifully with the fiery red petals, making it a striking focal point in borders, pots, or bouquets.

The 60–70 cm stems are strong and upright, allowing the flowers to remain perfectly upright and making them ideal as cut flowers. Flowering begins early and lasts from July to October, ensuring a long supply of striking blooms in your garden or bouquet.

Strong growth and Fusarium tolerance

The Matsumoto series is known for its reliable cultivation and disease resistance. The Scarlet variety is tolerant to Fusarium wilt, a fungus that can affect many asters.

For healthy and flowering plants it is important to:

  • Change location annually or disinfect the soil.

  • Avoid overwatering and ensure well-draining soil.

  • Choose a sunny and airy spot for optimal growth.

With proper care, the Matsumoto Scarlet will produce abundant, professional-quality flowers.

QIS® – Quality in Seed

The QIS® quality mark (Quality in Seed) stands for high-quality seed and floristry quality. Only the best varieties, which meet the strict requirements of professional cut flower cultivation, receive this quality mark.

The benefits of QIS® seeds:

  • Excellent germination power

  • Uniform growth and strong plants

  • Rich flowering and long vase life

The Matsumoto Scarlet combines these qualities and offers both beauty and reliability in the garden and vase.
