Mailänder is a fast-growing, flat-round turnip with purple shoulders.

Turnip enthusiasts harvest the turnips as young as possible and use them both raw and cooked. The delicate, white flesh is flavorful and slightly spicy. Mailänder is suitable for year-round cultivation, from spring to autumn, and almost certainly produces turnips during the summer months. The turnips are harvested when they are approximately 10 cm tall.

Sow directly in rows in April/August, spaced 30–35 cm apart, with row spacings of 10–15 cm. Harvesting takes place from early June to October, approximately six weeks after sowing.
