Description

Brassica oleracea (Savoy cabbage) Endeavour F1 – a very hardy savoy cabbage

Brassica oleracea 'Endeavour F1' is a vigorous and reliable winter-whirling (savoy cabbage) specially developed for a long harvest period and excellent performance in cold conditions. This F1 hybrid combines strong growth, compact heads, and high frost resistance, making it perfectly suited for autumn and winter cultivation in the vegetable garden.

Robust winter fencing with high frost resistance

Endeavour F1 is known as a very hardy Savoy cabbage that can easily withstand low temperatures. The firm heads remain well intact, even in frost, and, depending on the location, can remain in the field until March.

This makes this variety particularly valuable for gardeners who wish to harvest during the winter months as well. Moreover, frost ensures that the flavor of the cabbage comes into its own even better: the leaves soften and develop a milder, slightly sweet taste.

Strong growth and firm heads

This weir is a vigorous grower and forms firm, well-closed heads with characteristic curled leaves. The cabbage has a development period of approximately 95 to 110 days after transplanting, making it suitable for reliable autumn and winter cultivation.

Thanks to the strong structure, the cabbage retains its good quality for a long time, both in the field and after harvest.

Long and flexible harvest period

The harvest period for Endeavour F1 runs from October to the end of December, but can be extended until March of the following year under favorable conditions.

This long harvest period makes it possible to harvest the cabbages as needed, without them quickly losing quality. Ideal for those who enjoy fresh winter vegetables from their own garden.

Cultivation and sowing

Cultivation starts with a pre-cultivation from April to the end of May. By sowing indoors or in a greenhouse first, the plants get a strong and even start.

After propagation, the young plants are planted out in the open ground. Maintain a planting distance of approximately 50 x 40 cm. This provides sufficient space for the development of sturdy heads.

A sunny location and well-draining soil are important for optimal growth.

Nutrition and care

Savoy cabbage is a heavy feeder (starkzehrers) and therefore requires nutrient-rich soil. Adding compost or organic fertilizer is essential for the proper development of the cabbage.

During the growing season, it is important to water the plants regularly and fertilize them if necessary. Even growth contributes to sturdy, healthy heads that are well-resistant to winter conditions.

Use in the kitchen

Endeavour F1 is a versatile vegetable that can be used in many dishes. The slightly curled leaves are tender and flavorful, especially after exposure to frost.

Popular applications include:

  • Stamppots and winter dishes
  • Stir-fry dishes and wok dishes
  • Soups and stews
  • Stuffed cabbage dishes

The mild flavor and fine texture make this wirsing a favorite in winter cuisine.

Why choose Endeavour F1?

  • Excellent frost resistance
  • Long harvest period into spring
  • Strong, robust growth
  • Firm and well-formed heads
  • Ideal for winter cultivation

With Endeavour F1 Savoy cabbage, you choose a strong, hardy, and productive cabbage variety that delivers a reliable harvest even in the coldest months. An ideal choice for anyone who wants to enjoy fresh, flavorful vegetables from their own garden, even in the dead of winter.
