Aubrieta hybrida 'Hendersonii', better known as blue cushion, is a popular, evergreen perennial that has been indispensable in rock gardens, borders, and wall gardens for years. This low-growing ground cover forms compact, dense cushions of grey-green foliage and is completely covered with stunning lilac-purple-blue flowers in early spring. From March through May, Aubrieta 'Hendersonii' creates a colourful carpet that attracts bees and other pollinating insects.
With a height of only 10 to 15 cm and a spread of up to approximately 45 cm, this strong perennial is ideal as a ground cover, border plant, or for overhanging stone walls and raised planters. Thanks to its creeping growth habit, a dense mat quickly forms that helps suppress weeds and provides a neat appearance all year round thanks to its evergreen foliage.
