A beautiful perennial, it blooms in spring with nodding white flowers and striking yellow centres that give off a light fragrance.

This anemone spreads by rhizomes to form an impressive carpet, and its broad, bright flowers are very attractive.

Growing to a height of 30cm and a spread of 30–45cm, this anemone naturalises easily.

The species grows best on calcareous, well-drained soils and occurs along forest edges, in light deciduous forests and on sunny slopes.
