Description

Amaranth 'Oeschberg' is a rediscovered variety from around 1952, still prized for its large, upright plumes of burgundy and its ability to thrive in hot, humid summers.

Aubergine-purple leaves and flower spikes glow amidst deep red flowers and chartreuse-green amaranths in the back border.

An Award of Garden Merit honours this full, long-flowering selection.

Beautiful and useful, the young plants can be harvested as salad greens, and the nutritious seeds that ripen in late summer will feed both you and the local birds.
