Perennial herb plant for the vegetable garden
At Winterhecke, aromatic chives are especially popular as a vitamin-rich food in early spring and throughout the summer. The greenish-white flower heads are also edible.
The plant forms regular clumps which are split every 2–3 years.
Winter chives can also be grown as an annual. No bulbs are formed, only a slight thickening. Height approximately 50 cm. Fast-growing and winter-hardy.
Sowing: Sow directly outdoors from late March to August in rows, 5 cm apart, 20–25 cm between rows, or individually if desired. Harvest continuously from April to October.
