Ajuga reptans

Ajuga reptans, better known as creeping bugle, is a hardy, evergreen perennial widely used as a ground cover in borders, under trees and shrubs, and in other areas where low-maintenance planting is desired. Thanks to its creeping growth habit and the formation of runners, this plant spreads rapidly into a dense carpet of glossy green foliage, giving weeds little chance to take hold.

In the months of May and June, Ajuga reptans blooms profusely with striking violet-blue flowers that rise above the foliage in graceful, upright flower spikes. The flowers reach a height of approximately 20 cm, while the foliage itself remains compact, reaching a height of only 5 to 10 cm. Depending on the variety, the flowers can also be pink or white. The flowering spikes provide a beautiful splash of color and are visible from a great distance.
