A traditional Italian variety with beautiful beets that are very decorative when cut, with their white rings. The flesh of Tonda di Chioggia is quite sweet. The beets have an exceptionally long shelf life.

Beetroot should be sown directly, as it does not tolerate transplanting. Sow from April to July in open ground; sow thinly in rows, 25–40 cm apart for beets, approximately 10 cm apart within the row, or singly, as a lettuce, 15–20 cm apart, 10 cm apart within the row. After germination, thin out to one seedling per spot. Beets are harvested approximately 60–70 days after sowing.
